Role:                       Head of Paraplanning

Location:               North of Birmingham

Remuneration:     Basic to £50,000 + quarterly bonus


Our client is a boutique, highly individual Wealth Management IFA practice, who are Chartered Financial Planners.. The firm works with a range of HNW clients, who include successful entrepreneurs, SMEs, top flight professional athletes & sports people, wealthy individuals & families. The bedrock of these services is the provision of sophisticated, holistic financial planning and wealth management. There is cross-referral of clients between the companies in the Group, which creates a very exciting, vibrant, non-bureaucratic working environment & culture.

The firm is now seeking to appoint a Head of Paraplanning, who will play an integral part in the continued success & growth of the company.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • conducting technical research & analysis
  • preparing recommendations for investment, IHT/Estate planning & pension planning
  • preparing detailed, compliant Suitability Reports for presentation to the clients
  • compiling draft net worth statements, income & expenditure statements & cash flow forecasts
  • working closely with the Financial Planners e.g. 1-2-1 discussions pre & post client meetings
  • visiting clients with the Financial Planners
  • communicating with clients, via phone, email & face-to-face
  • assisting with compliance matters & marketing initiatives
  • training, coaching & leading the technical & admin team

Candidate profile:

  • Experienced Paraplanner
  • Level 4 Diploma & progressing towards,  or having already achieved, Chartered status
  • Ideally at least one of G60/AF3/AF7
  • excellent report writing skills
  • good knowledge of VCTs, EIS, SIPPS & tax planning (IHT, BPR, CGT etc.)
  • strong organisational skills
  • articulate & well presented
  • strong communication & relationship management/leadership skills
  • ability to achieve agreed outcomes with little or no supervision
