To join a growing national wealth manager who are expanding their activities in Edinburgh and London.  You may not yet be Diploma qualified and you will be supported in obtaining the Diploma as well as going on to obtain further qualifications.  As this is a growing business there are many ways to develop your career,.

Reporting to: Team Head, Financial Planning

To assist the Financial Planning team and Private Client Managers in all aspects of Financial Planning/Wealth Management advice provided by the Wealth management services.  The Financial Planning team provides comprehensive fee based advice on all aspects of personal financial planning and the use of life, investment and pension products; reviewing existing policies; advising on pooled investment vehicles, the use of bonds, onshore and offshore; life and other protection policies; retirement income planning; pensions, etc.

The paraplanner will work closely with the Financial Planners and Private Client Managers to assist with the preparation and implementation of advice, as well as drafting suitability letters for clients. Paraplanners will also provide responses on technical queries such as offshore bonds, pensions and other investments when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Financial Planner or Private Client Manager, to draft suitability letters confirming recommendations and follow the advice process through to implementation.
  • Maintain a bank of Wealth Management and Transactional Financial Planning clients with the associated Financial Planner.
  • Assist in compiling financial planning proposals for prospect clients.
  • Prepare new client and annual review client meeting packs.
  • Assist with drafting annual report commentaries.
  • Set up and maintain compliant advice files, ensuring correct documentation is included.
  • Co-ordinate onboarding of new clients and the opening of new accounts through 7IM’s systems.
  • Attend and participate in client meetings, where appropriate.
  • Draft, prepare and issue client valuations, taking responsibility for any additional bespoke work to be compiled.
  • Liaise with third party stakeholders such as accountants, lawyers and service providers in order to provide/obtain information for mutual clients.
  • Process and maintain client profile data. Liaise with other departments to make sure that information held is accurate across the business.
  • Process client risk questionnaires and document discussion of risk to support suitability.
  • Provide general administrative support to Financial Planners
  • Assist with any ad hoc projects.
  • To work in a close and flexible team with all PCM’s, Assistants, Financial Planners, and Business Development colleagues

SKILLS:

  • Must be a confident communicator able to provide constructive feedback on suitability when required.
  • Good written skills in order to clearly, concisely and convincingly draft suitability and communicate relevant information to clients in order to support discussions and agreements made with them by the Financial Planners and Private Client Managers.
  • Accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail in order to maintain the highest levels of service to clients.
  • Analytical research skills which are focused in order to understand fully and sense-check prospective and existing clients’ true understanding, views and feelings based on soft and hard facts gathered by the Financial Planners and Private Client Managers.
  • Planning and time management skills in order to most effectively allocate the time and resources to manage workload, with ability to work with minimum supervision whilst managing multiple and conflicting deadlines.
  • Team working combined with individual initiative, creativity and self-sufficiency in order to remain effective in the face of rapid change and a lean and efficient management and resource structure.
  • Personal development focus, taking responsibility for driving both personal and professional development in order to maximise effectiveness in this demanding role, and to grow with the role, and beyond.
  • Proficient in standard office software such as Word and Excel.

 

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Commercial awareness of wider financial planning market including various tax and investment wrappers, insurance and pension products and investment solutions.
  • Have a strong awareness of and passion for financial markets.
  • Up to date with FCA rules and regulations, including current areas or regulator focus.
  • Awareness of current events in the IFA/Financial Planning area, including advice trends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The successful candidate should currently hold or be aiming to achieve Level 4 CII Diploma in Financial Planning or other equivalent professional qualification.
  • Financial planning/wider wealth management knowledge desirable, but not essential.
